BUY DIGITAL CAMERAS ONLINE
Thanks for continuing to read this buyers guide to digital cameras
Now I'm going to briefly talk about buying your digital camera.
About time, huh! Generally, buying online is cheaper than buying
on the high street, but you may be unaware of the best places
to buy online. You may also want to buy at the cheapest price. This
is covered too...
Ready? Let's begin with a question: WHERE
CAN YOU BUY a digital camera online? (And if you're not completely sure
about buying online. Take a look at the safe shopping guide in the Resources section
below.) => BUY FROM A TRUSTED VENDOR Firstly, there are
many many places where you can buy digital cameras online. Perhaps you're
even spoilt for choice. (But can you trust ALL of these websites?) Personally,
when I buy something like a digital camera online I always buy from a trusted
vendor, as long as the price is competitive. And, for me, that would mean
buying from Amazon UK, Internet Cameras Direct or maybe The Digital Camera
Company. (Maybe you've bought from Dixons online, or Comet or even from
some of the other vendors listed below, I don't know.) But, unless you're
going to make massive savings, buy from a trusted vendor. Unless... unless
saving money is just too important! => BUY AT THE CHEAPEST PRICE If
getting a digital camera at the very best price is your primary concern, then
you need to pay a visit to a comparison shopping site. Sites like Kelkoo, Pricerunner,
DealTime, Price Guide, Cubalaya
(and more!), actually compare prices from many of the online stores. And
they list the vendors in order of cheapest price. That's nice of 'em, isn't
it! (Though these comparison shopping sites aren't quite as inclusive as
they should be - it costs vendors money, to get their products included. Always
remember that.
Recommended: Cubalaya
shopping comparison - find cheap digital cameras.) So, visit a comparison
shopping site (or three) and see which vendor is selling your camera the cheapest. Interestingly
enough, that's how I came to buy my first digital camera (from Internet Cameras
Direct (ICD)) - I found it via comparison shopping site Kelkoo (I think), and
now ICD is the first site I visit when I'm going to buy something like a digital
camera. So, often, trusted vendors can also be the cheapest choice too. =>
COMBINE STRATEGIES And that's why I usually compare prices first, and
see how much more it is at my trusted vendor (in most cases, Amazon). If it's
not too much, I buy from Amazon. Sometimes Amazon sell digital cameras as-new,
or second-hand. And if you're really after a bargain, maybe a visit to online
auction site Ebay is called for. And don't forget those magazines you read
whilst deciding which camera to buy - they're littered with ads. for cheap digital
cameras. At the end of the day. The buying decision is yours - I've simply
provided you with a few choices, and a few considerations. ~~~~~ Another
short and sweet 'tell your Granny how to suck eggs' installment. Forgive the 'stating
the obvious', but sometimes the obvious needs to be stated! :-) Check out

=> Photo Editing Software
And you're probably going to need better photo editing software
than came bundled with your digital camera. These programs are the
best available right now:
. Ulead PhotoImpact
. Adobe Photoshop
. Adobe Photoshop Elements 2
. Paint Shop Pro
Some (earlier versions) of this software is available free on CDs/DVDs
given away on Computer/Digital Camera magazines, or you can buy
them from vendors like Amazon .
=> Photo Album Software
Once you're happy with your photographs - well you might like to
organise them all in a photo album on your computer Yes, you can
buy software to do this, too. :-) These programs are the best available
right now:
. Roxio PhotSuite
. Adobe Photoshop Album
. Paint Shop Photo Album
You can buy this
software and similar from Amazon
=> Online Photo Storage
The web is full of online albums that let you store and display
your photos for free. The following resources are some of the best:

=> Printing Your Photographs
You can either print your photographs yourself, via your own printer,
you can take your photos to Boots, or you can use an online photo
lab. It's up to you.
If you're going to buy a printer then you must obviously consider
print quality, speed and size. Also worth considering is whether
you want to print A4 or A3 size, or whether the printer has a built
in card reader (way of automatically transferring the photos from
the camera without need for a computer).
Printer resolutions matter too, but the human eye will find it
difficult to distinguish between 600dpi and 1440 dpi (dots per inch)
resolution.

=> Protecting Your Camera
Very few manufacturers bundle a case with their digital cameras,
but it's still a "precision instrument that needs to be cared
for, if it's to reward you with years of service."
What to look for in a camera case:
- Efficient and quick access
- Hard-wearing, and waterproof fabric
- Pockets for digital media
- Belt loop
